Welcome to Philaletheis!
All Vassar students are invited to join Philaletheis. Here are a couple of ways to get involved:
Each semester, Phil sponsors the ten-minute play festival. Anyone interested in directing can propose a 10-minute piece of theater. Directors audition and cast actors, and rehearse for less than two weeks. The plays do not have to be polished; these workshops are an opportunity to try directing for the first time and play with something new. Performances are a celebration of directors and actors on campus. We highly encourage everyone to participate, especially freshmen! Ten-minute plays are a great first experience with Phil on campus.
Directing Workshop Proposal forms can be found here.
Full-length productions are at the core of what Phil produces. Any student who has directed a Directing Workshop is eligible to propose a full-length show. We produce up to six shows a semester, and serve as a support system for directors, designers, and performers throughout the process. We strive to assist our productions in whatever ways we can. Auditions for all student theatre productions are held the third weekend of the semester. Anyone interested in acting should audition!

Philaletheis is very excited this year to focus on our Special Events, which are broadly defined as anything that are not full-length productions. We sponsor readings, writing workshops, and master classes, as well as collaborations with other organizations. If you have an idea for a special event, e-mail our Special Events Coordinator, Alison Russell at email@example.com. We want to hear your ideas and get inspired!
